Robins – Information

Welcome to Robin Class

Robin class are our amazing year 1 and 2 class. In Robin class the children are taught the national curriculum through collaboration, play and first hand experiences. We love to get outside and use our wonderful grounds to help us learn.

Mr Bellhouse teaches Year 2 in a morning, and Mrs Dixon teaches Y1. In the mornings we learn English, maths, spelling and phonics. We practice our number facts through the Mastering Number Programme and learn to read and write using the Red Rose Phonics and Spelling programmes.

In the afternoons, Mr Bellhouse teaches all of year 1 and 2 together, where we learn all our other subjects. We have lots of fun!

Reading
Children need lots of practice using and applying their phonics learning. Each week, children will be given two reading books, in which will be sounds and words they have be taught at school. Children will be listened to read at school regularly, but they need many opportunities to practice this essential skill. We encourage you to read as much as possible with your child, and to read each book more than once. This supports them in developing their fluency in reading.
