We decorated all of our classroom doors ready for the begining of Advent.
Christmas crafts
We had a very successful Christmas craft morning. The children worked in their houses and created four different crafts to take home by the end of the morning.
aquathon and lune valley football tournament
We took a team to the Carnforth Cluster Aquathon. Everyone had to swim 60m (3 lengths) of the pool and then jump out and quickly put on their shoes (very tricky with wet feet!) then set off on a 1000m run out of the building and round to the track. Everyone tried really hard and really enjoyed competing in this event. Well done Team Arkholme! Also, children from KS1 and KS2 enjoyed their first match in this year’s Lune Valley football tournament. The children represented school really well and demonstrated great sportsmanship.
harvest festival
We celebrated Harvest Festival in our local village church. We raised the roof with our songs and poems! Our donations were given to Morecambe Food Bank.
dressing up
At Arkholme we love the chance to dress up and we relish every opportunity to get into character! Dressing up features highly on our ‘Spread the Happiness’ calendar.
going for gold
Our school play this summer was Going for Gold, inspired by this year being an Olympic year.
sports day
This year’s winners were our red team, Rydal.
bake off
For one of our ‘Spread the Happiness’ days, we participated in a whole school ‘Bake Off’. Each class produced a cake based on the topic they were learning about: beaches, mountains and ‘The Iron Man’, Kenya and the Olympics.
made by the moon
We thoroughly enjoyed our whole school topic, ‘Made by the Moon’. We met the author, Emily Hennessey on the Silverdale shore where she shared the story with us. Joining us, was a bird expert who pointed out the birds of Morecambe Bay and we made our own bird and nest sculptures. We took our new found knowledge back to school where we worked on further projects inspired by our day on the shore.
coronation
We wore red, white and blue and held a picnic in our school grounds to celebrate the coronation of King Charles III. We had a super day!
nativity
We were invited to a surprise ‘Nativity’ in our village hall. We learned about life in the times of Jesus and physically followed the story of his birth through the hall and the grounds.
enterprise day
Key Stage 2 took part in Enterprise Day where they raised money for charity by designing and making a product to sell.
art gallery
We held our first whole school ‘Art Gallery’ in the school hall. We displayed the work we had been creating for the term and invited our friends and carers to come and view it.
