Arkholme Primary School embrace the fun and fundraising involved in supporting the Children in Need charities each year. In 2017, we opted for a ‘pyjamas and bad hair’ day. Children and staff arrived at school in a fine selection of pyjamas, onesies and fluffy slippers, enjoyed cupcakes, brownies and biscuits baked by the children at home and lots of Children in Need themed activities tied into our curriculum. Thank you to all pupils and teachers for their enthusiasm and generosity!

A team of 25 present and past pupils from Arkholme C of E School, aged between six and joseph-newfifteen, completed the 2.5km course, including climbing huge walls and wading through thick mud and streams, and concluding with a slide into a pool of muddy water. They have raised £2009.75 for the Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital for Ward 78 and paediatric intensive care, where one of our pupils, Joseph Waddington, was treated for a brain tumour removal in February, 2016. He is now fit and well. Thank you for all your support!

Rotakids

rotakids-poster-croppedAs part of our Citizenship curriculum, orotakids_logour affiliation with the Rotary Club allow our young people to decide upon ways in which they can offer something back to their community.

In September the whole school chose a sponsored ‘Marathon Challenge’ The children ran as many laps of the village field as they could in 1 hour.

We added all the distances together and they collectively ran 201 miles which equates to 8 full marathons in one hour!
