Apple Pressing for our Harvest Day

Monday 2nd October was our ‘Celebrating the Harvest’ day. Following our Harvest service in church. Mr Jackson-Pitt, Mr Hall and Mr Thomas brought an apple press and lots of other equipment into school, each child brought an empty plastic bottle and some apples to turn into delicious fresh juice.

The children were very excited to see the trees in the orchard shaking and apples falling to the floor. They worked hard to collect them all and carefully wash them in big buckets. The washing, ‘scratting’, pressing and bottling resulted in the tastiest apple juice we had ever tasted!

A huge thank you from all the staff and children.

Class 1 – Trip to India

Today Class 1 have been on a wonderful, colourful trip to India. They rode an elephant and enjoyed a lively session of Bollywood dancing

to help them work up an appetite, there were some amazing smells wafting from the school kitchen which was transformed into an Indian Restaurant for a feast of curry, rice, chapati and naan bread. Namaste!

Our trip to Italy!

On a sunny Tuesday in April 2017, we took our reception children on an Italian adventure!

When Worship was over the Reception class stayed behind and Mrs Muckalt produced some passports they had made previously in class.

The children then made their way back to the pod where an exciting trip to Italy had been planned. They were greeted by passport control ready to check their passports. Then different weighted suitcases were placed on scales at check in and the children were asked to tick a lighter or heavier chart depending on their baggage.

The children then placed their suitcases on the next table where their bags were placed through a scanning device before receiving their boarding passes.

Once boarded and with their baggage in the hold, Chantelle the airstewardess appeared to check boarding passes and seatbelts before the pilot prepared for take off. Once airborne, Chantelle came round with healthy refreshments whilst the pilot described the scenery we were flying over.

Once we landed in Venice, the children were greeted by Fabio and Frederico who took them into the outside play area where a gondola awaited for a sight seeing trip. This was followed by a treat of real ice cream and then a shopping trip for postcards. The children wrote their postcards which enabled them to practice their emergent writing before posting their cards home.

After break the children visited Franco’s Pizza Parlour where they made individual pizzas (later cooked by Mrs Airey ready for them to take home)! This was sadly the end of their visit to Venice and they boarded the aeroplane for the return trip.

Santa Express

Class 1 have been finding about different celebrations. We have had lots of fun this half term!

We found an Elf and Fairy house on our decking area and a letter from Ernie Elf and Sparkle Fairy. Ernie and Sparkle have been up to all sorts of things and we have been writing to them.

Just before the holidays Ernie and Sparkle sent Reception on a treasure hunt and then invited us all to meet Father Christmas on the Santa Express. We were all very excited, Mrs Ingram drove the mini bus and we all went down the motorway to the East Lancs Railway. There were hundreds of Christmas trees to look at and an Elf showed us where to board the train. During our journey we watched a man do some magic – Mrs Muckalt helped make two balls turn into lots of balls! We sang along to some Christmas songs with the brass band. Then the most exciting part, Father Christmas came to visit us and gave us all a present. We had a super Christmassy day out, we hope you enjoy looking at some of our photos.
