It was a grey and wet day for Class 3’s trip to Hill Top house. We didn’t let that dampen our spirits and we had a great time!
As part of our Beatrix Potter topic, the whole class took a trip to Hill Top, the house Beatrix Potter bought with the proceeds from Peter Rabbit.
It was a working farm, Beatrix bought a flock of Herdwick Sheep, she became quite the local expert in Herdwicks.
We took the Lakeside Ferry accross the lake and walked from the lake up to the house, following in the footsteps of Beatrix Potter, in the lanes where Flopsy, Mopsy and Cottontail picked blackberries.
The book of Peter Rabbit began as letters with illustrations from Beatrix to a young boy, the children studied those letters.
We visited Mr McGregors garden and did some sketching of the flowers and plants growing there.
